Russia Vows Strong Backing for Venezuela
On Monday, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil held a phone call with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, during which they discussed the "hostilities" and "flagrant violations of international law" taking place in the Caribbean.
According to a statement shared by Gil on Telegram, Moscow has promised complete support for Venezuela, particularly through diplomatic initiatives within the United Nations Security Council.
“Foreign Minister Lavrov firmly expressed Russia's solidarity with the people of Venezuela and with President Nicolas Maduro Moros and reaffirmed his full support in the face of hostilities against our country,” Gil noted.
Moscow also issued a sharp warning about the US naval deployment, stressing that Washington’s actions carry "far-reaching consequences" for regional stability and represent a direct danger to international maritime trade.
This diplomatic alignment follows Trump’s announcement of the deployment of the "largest navy ever assembled in the history of South America." While the White House maintains the operation is aimed at combating drug trafficking, it has already led to the seizure of two oil tankers, with US forces currently attempting to intercept a third vessel.
